It is my goal, that in contributing to my own website, I will help other aspiring PC builders to develop the skills and confidence to assemble their own desktop.
Firstly, why should you trust me?
I’ve held a passion for computers for as long as I can remember; for my 21st birthday I worked for months and saved all the money I could to build an amazing computer to be proud of. However, this isn’t to say you need a lot of money to build one – you don’t!
Added to this very substantial geek nature of mine, I’m currently studying in my final year for a B.Sc in Chemistry at the University of Liverpool, UK. Although this doesn’t directly relate, obviously, it provides me the enhanced practical skills and the ability to deal with lots of information and pick out the useful bits – so I will combine everything I’ve learned into this site.
So firstly, why build your own?
- You’ll save hundreds of pounds (/other currency) off the price of a desktop!
- Through assembly you’ll gain IT skills that will be useful in a number of fields
- No more money paying for costly pc repairs, if something does go wrong – after building your own, just buy the replacement part you need and fit it yourself!
The positives are endless, and mostly related to the costs – the computer I built would cost £400 more if bought from a shop – of which there are few when you want the best components!
For me, I would never spend £1000’s on a mac that contains bog standard pc parts bundled together in a pretty package, and I will show you how much you could save if using this as an example.
I will provide a 3 step process to building your own computer; Research, Assembly and Installation.
